Team Bios
Dr. Turner - DDS MAGD
Dr. Turner grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received his
BA in history from the University of New Mexico in 1969. After
five years in diesel submarines, the US Navy sent him to dental
school at University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry,
graduating in 1978. He received his MBA at National University
in 1984. The Navy transferred him to Oak Harbor in 1986. He set
up practice in 1990 after 21 years in the military. Dr Turner is a
member of the Washington State Dental Society, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, Mt. Baker Chapter of the Seattle Study Club.
He received his Mastership status in Academy of General Dentistry in 1999. He is past president of the Kiwanis Club of Oak Harbor and active with Oak Harbor's Chamber of Commerce. He was married in 1969 to his wife Gail and has 3 daughters, Tracy, Shelley and Stephanie. He enjoys stained glass and woodworking.
Valerie - Registered Dental Hygienist
The other Val and the "vintage" member of the team, Valerie moved to Anacortes in 2005 from San Diego, Ca where she was instrumental in growing a dental practice and in that office for over 30 years.She also clinically participated and administered a fluoride program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca. She graduated from Glendale College with an AA degree and then on to Baylor University, Caruth School of Dental Hygiene in Dallas , Tx. Anxious to leave the fast Sop. California pace she now enjoys the beautiful northwest. She joined our team in 2012. She is active in the Anacortes, Wa. community and also likes to read, cook, and travel to visit her four grandchildren in San Diego and New Hampshire.
Monique - Registered Dental Hygienist
"California Girl" That's our Mo! She's been with Dr Turner since 1997. Relocated to Whidbey Island from California with her husband. She received her Registered Dental Assistant in 1984, Registered Dental Hygienist in 93, IMZ implant certification in 94, laser certification in 06. Enjoys spending time in nature and with family and friends.
Yana - Registered Dental Hygienist
Born in the Ukraine and moved to Washington in 1990. Yana has been in dental field for over 15 years, first as a dental sterilization assistant, then a dental assistant and in 2001 graduated with an AA degree in Science and Dental Hygiene from Pierce College. In 2011 she received her BS degree in Science and Dental Hygiene fron OIT. Yana lives with two small dogs, daughter and husband. She enjoys hiking, horseback riding, working out and reading.
Janna - Office Manager
Oak Harbor Native and Oak Harbor High School graduate. She has been in the dental field since 1988 and has been with our office since 2003. Janna and her husband Roy love to spend time with their children and grand children. In her spare time she loves to travel, sew, and read.
Val - Financial Coordinator
Moved to Oak Harbor in 1979, raised as an Air Force dependent,
traveled and lived all over the world. Received her AA in
Computer Information Systems and has been in all aspects of the
dentistry since 1972. Val has daughter, Mary Jo Graduating June 2008 to continue her education in Hawaii." "She joined our practice in 2004 and enjoys horses, softball, bowling and gardening.
Fran - Dental Assistant
Fran joins our team after more than 25 years of dental assisting experience. She has recently moved to Oak Harbor from Blaine, Wa. and Danville, Il. Fran is an avid gardner and reads voraciously. Her childhood years were spent in Vancouver, Canada where she became a lover of the mountains, lakes and streams that surround our area.
Kimberly - RDA
Born in Oak Harbor and is a former Navy brat. Moved back to Oak Harbor in 1995 and graduated from Oak Harbor High School. Attended Everest College and completed the Dental Assisting program in 2007. Has been assisting for two years in South Whidbey and came to Dr Turner’s office at the beginning of 2010. She lives in beautiful historic Coupeville with her husband Benjamin and their two boys, Michael and Dylan. Enjoys hiking , walking, and spending time with her family.
